HKS Super Hybrid Air Filters (HKS
Air Filter Applications)
HKS' high-performance Super Hybrid Filters are a direct replacement
for OE panel filters when a factory air box is required or preferred.
HKS Super Hybrid Filters feature a new 3-layer system to collect
dusts and blocking them from getting into your car's engine. The
filter element is bonded to a flexible nylon frame and offers a
price-friendly performance alternative to a full intake system.

Mitsubishi EVO8 (Lancer Evolution VIII) has a very nice cold air intake
from the factory. To make a good engineered product even better, we decided
to upgrade the factory panel filter with a new air filtration product
from HKS HKS Super Hybrid Filter.
(Figure 1) On the left is the HKS Super Hybrid Filter that we
are going to install. On the right hand side is the original HKS Super
Filter. The difference between the HKS Super Hybrid Filter and the HKS
Super Filter is the material used. The new Super Hybrid Filter uses three
layers of different material, it helps filtering dust without the needs
of frequent washing or replacing filter.

Installation Steps:
- First of all, unlock the four tabs (red arrows) holding the intake
box cover.
- Simply pull the cover up about two inches, then slide to the right
to remove the cover from the cold air snorkel. So you should be able
to remove the cover without the need of removing the snorkel. Now you
can remove the OEM filter from the intake box.
- Now compare the two filter!! (Well, this step is not necessary).
- Now drop the HKS filter in with the larger ring at the bottom. This
will ensure an air tight seal at the bottom of the filter to the air
box assembly.
- Simply reverse the removal procedures by sliding in the cover to
the snorkel and locking all four tabs. The whole installation should
not be more than 2 minutes!! Now, go for a spin and enjoy more power
and better filtration from this HKS Super Hybrid Filter!
